Company
Shanghai Mars Electric Power Equipment Co., Ltd. (MARS) designs, manufactures, tests and services a complete power chain — oil-immersed and cast-resin dry-type transformers, power transformers, pad-mounted and pole-mounted transformers, compact and box-type substations, medium- and low-voltage switchgear and ring main units, and lithium-iron-phosphate energy storage systems, from outdoor cabinets to megawatt-scale liquid-cooled containers.
Our range covers 5 kVA to 31,500 kVA at 3 kV to 35 kV, with power-class units up to 110 kV, and energy storage from 40 kWh cabinets to 10 MWh containerised systems. Every unit is built to IEC 60076 and IEC 62271, with ANSI/IEEE, GB and GOST-compliant designs available for projects in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia and the CIS.
Because we engineer and build in-house, almost everything is customisable: capacity, voltage ratio, vector group, winding material, insulation class, enclosure protection and cooling. Tell us the grid and the site, and we will build the equipment to match.

Factory
MARS equipment is built in our own workshops, not sourced and re-badged. Our 25,000 m² Shanghai manufacturing base runs as four connected production lines under one roof: transformer winding and assembly, switchgear and cabinet fabrication, compact substation and container integration, and energy storage assembly — each served by overhead travelling cranes and finished on a single, continuously routed assembly floor.
Production begins at the winding shop, where oxygen-free copper conductor is drawn from stock reels and wound on CNC-controlled winding machines for both foil and wire coils. Cast-resin coils are vacuum-cast and cured in-house; oil-immersed cores are stacked, clamped, vapour-phase dried and tanked; tanks and cabinet enclosures are cut, punched, folded and powder-coated on our own sheet-metal line. Switchgear and low-voltage panels are assembled and wired at dedicated stations, then bench-tested cabinet by cabinet before the busbar and secondary wiring are signed off.

Testing and quality
Every unit passes routine testing before it leaves — winding resistance, turns ratio, insulation resistance, no-load and load loss, applied and induced voltage withstand, partial discharge — and temperature-rise and dielectric type tests on request. Energy storage systems add cell-grading, BMS communication, insulation, liquid-cooling leak and full charge/discharge verification.
Finished equipment is shrink-wrapped, palletised or cased in fumigation-free wooden crates and shipped worldwide, with documentation packs, type-test reports and factory acceptance tests (FAT) arranged on request — customer and third-party witness testing welcome. Read our FAT checklist for what a full acceptance programme covers.

How we work with you
- 1
Enquiry
Send the rating, voltage ratio, frequency, standard, quantity and destination — or a single-line diagram. Use the quote list to send several items at once.
- 2
Technical proposal
Within one working day an engineer confirms the configuration, flags anything that needs a decision (vector group, impedance, IP class, cooling) and prices it.
- 3
Drawing approval
Outline drawings, nameplate data and test plan are issued for approval before production starts.
- 4
Production and testing
Typical lead time is 25–45 days for distribution transformers and switchgear. Routine tests on every unit; FAT witnessed by you or a third party if required.
- 5
Packing and shipping
Fumigation-free crates, oil-filled or dry shipment as specified, impact recorders on request. EXW, FOB, CIF or DAP with full document packs.
- 6
Installation support
Installation guidance, commissioning checklists and remote support; on-site commissioning by arrangement.
Frequently asked questions about MARS
Where is MARS located?
